Don't forget, Elvis is the one who started all this madness, though he had his predecessors, too. Cold Fury has a post on Hank Ballard, writer of "The Twist", who just died.

So is this a bad point to say that, for me, the first thing that comes to mind when someone says "punk" is that green spiral of stuff you burn as mosquito repellant?
yes, yes, I know what you're talking about from the context, but I still think the weird word associations in my memory are funny.
