Darkside Etiquette Announcement
Anyone who makes anything remotely resembling a "joke" about Clement getting clocked will be banned.
If you go down that road I will track you down.
UPDATE (01:12AM): by the email I'm catching, it seems I have been a-freaking-miss in stating my intentions...let me make this clear:
If you go down that road I will track you down, ruin your credit rating, and get you registered as a sex offender.
And, then, I will totally fuck you over.
Now, you douchebags think about that...all for a guy who plays for A TEAM I WANT DEAD.
So, who wants to play?

Same thing happened to me in college and I never played again. Don't remember anything til I woke up in the hospital. Still scares the crap out of me.

Yeah. Of course I went into tonight's game wanting the Red Sox to lose, but NOT like this.

Last I heard was that Clement was awake, never lost consciusness, and seems not to be badly hurt. They're keeping him overnight in the hospital for observation.

Never a chance of that from me. I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach everytime I see the replay of it. Scary stuff. Hope things are okay with him.

Hope he's alright. That was a scary, scary sight.

Terrifying.
It almost killed the game...spooked the other players so much...Then with Damon getting hit...
Oy.
But we still won...
We're still in first...

I did time in high school/college/those assholes that are called the "minor league scrubs" by pricks in Montreal, like the LI Ducks, and got my head rang like a bell a maybe too bunch of times for standing in front of the pipes.
The only, ONLY thing right now, is that Clement is okay, and until that is clear, I want everyone to pray (to whoever your flavor of the day). I don't give a shit about Yankee/RedSox; this is not about a fucking game. This is about a guy. I saw that tape and crossed myself, and I pretty much wrote off the Catholic crap a long time ago.
I do not buy the snap answers on this; that boy got his melon rocked. This is one of those, "wait a couple days" kinda thing.
I'm serious. I want this joint praying (or burning candles, or whatever you freakazoids do) for this guy. That tape scared the shit out of me.
You think I'm overblown? What if it was Mo?
Posted by: TC at July 27, 2005 12:16 AM
TC, keep in mind I'm a huge Sox fan and have been for a long time. I am never flippant about this shit.
His CT scan was clear. No bleeding. No fracture.
Probably concussion, sounds like it was a glancing blow that knocked him off his feet.
I've been hit before, and know what it feels like. My biggest concern, aside from his physical health, is his psychological health, and therefore the mental health of the team. If he's out for the season because of fear, it's going to adversely affect the rest of the players.
If it was Mo, I'd be worried about the same thing. I want a healthy team to smack talk, not an injured one. And especially not a frightened one.

Kat, you rock. You get it, but I'd tear your whole last two paragraphs apart.
I just wanna know he's okay. Like I said, I don't give a shit about the "what does it mean for the AL East" stuff.
I do not trust, in any way or shape, what MLB or the Sox are letting out. I want to see him standing up on Tuesday--Monday at the earliest!--before I buy a word those bastards have to say.
They have never given a shit about players (see: BALCO), and I won't buy it now.

Ok, to some degree, I agree. But at the same time, I know Boston fans. I know that most of them are not the sort to just accept what the team doctor says without good reason.
Especially since we don't trust this team doctor for shit. Stupid franchise, getting rid of the man who won the Series for us last year.
[shakes head]

kat?
FORGET THE GAME.
You keep adding a "yeah, but," to this.
Look, I'm a born Bronx Yankee fan: I could wish this guy death and get an aria from a pyscho chorus. What I'm saying is "put the fucking standings away; no one gives a shit who comes in first if this clown's melon got cracked to get there." Stop trying to scope it out as per the fucking season!
"Team doctor?" FUCK Him (I thought we've been over that)
"My biggest concern, aside from his physical health, is his psychological health, and therefore the mental health of the team."
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?
Just say a fucking prayer, okay?

man, that shit has gotta hurt. If I was a pitcher, I'd wear one of those helmets like John Olderdude. All pitchers should have to wear some type of new streamlined helmet-hat.
Posted by: Ric at July 27, 2005 10:16 AM
... like John Olderdude.
I'm gonna have that rolling around in my head until I can find a conversation to drop it into where the other person will get it.
(off to find a Mutt fan with a better-than-his-shoe IQ...pickings be slim, skip!)
